Harley-Davidson® Engineers Original Equipment for Touring Models

If you currently own a Harley-Davidson® Touring model, we suggest taking a look at the company’s Premium Ride suspension components — the brand’s newest feature — which not only allows you to personalize the look and feel of your motorcycle, but you can also enjoy a more comfortable, precise and responsive ride overall.(1)

Overview

Who wouldn’t want their bike to fit a customizing direction or riding style? (1) And if you’re like Motorcycle — a news and reviews website — then you’ve probably wondered about the lack of travel in the stock rear suspension of H-D®’s models. (2) If so, then get ready for Harley-Davidson®’s 2015 rear shock and front suspension options that (1) will provide you with a “controlled yet plush ride” with less bottoming, according to the bike-maker. (3)

Premium Ride Hand-Adjustable Touring Shocks

Opting for the rear shock option will allow you to benefit from a nitrogen-emulsion charged design (2) — a feature that basically provides enhanced compression and rebound damping compared to the Original Equipment-style air adjustable shocks — according to the American bike-maker. (3) Motorcycle says the new shocks were a noticeable improvement on their H-D® Dyna Street Bob tester, (2) and that's probably because they offer a controlled ride with better resistance to suspension bottoming, and larger chambers so that the shocks can react to impacts in a speedy manner. Plus, you can easily modify the spring pre-load with the hydraulic adjuster when reaching for the knob behind your left saddlebag. Pretty convenient, right? (3)

The shocks are available in two versions: standard ride height and low-profile ride height for 2009-later Touring models, with some exceptions.(1)

Premium Ride Single Cartridge Fork Kit

As for the front suspension option — also equipped on Motorcycle’s Dyna Street Bob tester — the new Single Cartridge Fork Kit is meant to improve handling performance. The compression piston is said to help with low-speed damping, rebound springs offer a smoother feel during topping, there is better bottoming resistance, and Motorcycle says the “triple-rate spring and oil lock allows the fork to better absorb bumps under hard braking.” (2)

This feature is designed for 2014 and later Touring bikes with 49-mm fork legs, whereas Harley®’s Double Cartridge Fork Kit is meant for 2009-2013 Touring models. (1)
